Exhaust Cleaner's Protocol Excerpt
Phil Ackland's Cleaners Certification Protocol TM is a result of years of research and consultation with Fire Inspectors, legislators, insurance companies and exhaust cleaners.
Since the 1998 edition of the NFPA #96 was published, a general consensus has evolved that both the cleaning company and responsible person at the job site (crew leader) should possess the knowledge base and experience to be considered 'acceptable to the AHJ.'
The primary purpose of Phil Ackland's Exhaust Cleaners Certification Protocol is to provide the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) with a clearer understanding of NFPA 96 which states (in part): "...exhaust systems shall be (inspected and cleaned) by properly trained, qualified and certified company or person(s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction." (See NFPA 96, 8-3, 1998 Edition, or NFPA 96, 11.3, 2001 Edition).
